Single Dad ID'd Following Deadly Shooting Outside His Home In York: Coroner

A 28-year-old dad was shot dead outside his home in  York on Saturday, Sept. 24, authorities say.

Akwame J. Anderson, of the 400 block of Wallace Street, was shot in that block at 12:43 a.m., police say. 

He was taken to WellSpan York Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 12:59 a.m., according to an updated release by the York County coroner's office. 

The death was certified and an investigation was launched by Deputy coroner Onalee Gilbert.

His cause and manner of death have yet to be released at the time of publishing but an autopsy was performed, Monday, Sept. 26 at 8 a.m., according to the coroner's office. 

Anderson was a single dad, who enjoyed delicious food and spending time with his family, according to his social media. He was also a graduate of Central York High School, as his social media shows. 

He is survived by his mother Krista, sister Adasia, and two daughters, according to social media and public records.  

His funeral and memorial services details have yet to be released. 

A family friend is selling candles to help raise funds for the family.

Police have not identified any suspects and no arrests have been made.

This is the 25th homicide in York County and 17 in the city, in 2022, according to the coroner's office.
